A Complete Guide to Designing Home Theater Systems in San Bernardino County

Are you ready to transform your living space into the home theater of your dreams? If you’ve always wanted a cinema experience in your home, here’s how to get it. It’s easy, with home theater systems in San Bernardino County. Use the following tips to enjoy theater quality without leaving your living room.

The Room

For the best results, choose a rectangular room. Place the screen and main speakers on one of the short walls. This setup will provide the best sound projection. Don’t worry about soundproofing or doing anything else to your walls. Drywall works fine. Although, you should avoid hanging framed art. The glass is too reflective. Break up large spaces of wall with drapes or furniture instead.

For flooring, choose carpeting. It’s more cozy, comfy and sound absorbent. On the walls, choose a flat or eggshell finish for your paint. Glossier finishes are too reflective. Dark colors are also best, as bright paint is distracting when you’re watching a brightly lit screen. Choose tans, browns or greens. These are less likely to affect the colors on the screen.

The Screen

When you set up home theater systems in San Bernardino County, the screen size and placement are key. First, you must choose the screen you want to view in your home theater. Many believe that bigger is better, but don’t get carried away. Choose a screen that is appropriate for the room size. Use this formula: Distance from screen divided by two. This will give you a good size for the diagonal of the screen.

For example, if your seating will be 10 feet from the screen, then a 60-inch screen, measured on the diagonal, would be appropriate. If you already have a screen and are trying to determine the distance for seating, use the same formula. For a 48-inch TV, place seating around 8 feet (96 inches) away.

For the best viewing, set up your home theater with a 30-40 degree viewing angle. Imagine a triangle drawn from the edges of your screen to your nose. The angle created at your face should be between 30 and 40 degrees. As for height, keep the center of the screen at eye level. Looking up or down is bad for your neck.

The Speakers

Typical home theater systems in San Bernardino County are made up of five speakers and a sub-woofer. The speakers include two front speakers, a center speaker and two rear speakers. Place the front and center speakers toward the front of the room and the two rear speakers to either side and slightly behind your seating area. Be sure to keep speakers at least 20 inches from the walls for best sound. For ideal placement, put them equidistant from your seating area.

Keep in mind, your room may have limitations when it comes to the placement of speakers. Play around with their positioning until you get the sound combination you like best for your space.
